Dane Scism is owner/CEO of Cellular Sales. He and his wife purchased Cellular Sales in 1993, when the company sold Cellular One products and consisted of one shopping center location with retail space and office, and a handful of mall kiosks in East Tennessee. The company has since grown into the nation’s largest premium Verizon retailer with hundreds of locations nationwide. Scism attributes the company’s success to its focus on customer satisfaction and personal service. Dane has redefined the agent channel for Verizon Wireless and has brought more productivity per door than any other agent within Verizon’s Indirect Channel. He accepted the Knoxville Chamber’s Pinnacle Award for Large Business Excellence on behalf of Cellular Sales in 2012.
Dane graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He was named the “Entrepreneur of the Year” by the University of Tennessee’s Haslam School of Business for 2014. He was a regional finalist for the Ernst and Young entrepreneur of the year for 2014. Dane has also served on the board of directors for the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce. He is currently serving on the executive cabinet for the 2014 United Way campaign for East Tennessee. Dane was a member of the Southern 7 Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization. His unique leadership story and style were featured prominently in Jeb Blount’s top selling management book People Follow You.
JT Thome has been the Chief Operating Officer for Cellular Sales since November 2010 and has helped lead the company through it’s phenomenal growth surge. He is responsible for all store operations, technology, supply chain and logistics, as well as the national call center. After serving in the US Army, JT began his career in sales with AT&T in data network and call center solutions. While there he met and eventually joined an early start-up team which created WebMD.com - a leading provider of online healthcare content. While at WebMD.com, JT served in several executive roles within the company including VP of Product Development, from the business's inception to its successful IPO on the NASDAQ. Following WebMD, JT was the Chief Information Officer for Jewelry Television, a home shopping network with an audience of more than 130 million viewers. JT was also responsible for growing Jewelry Television’s website, JTV.com, into the fourth-largest pure-play jewelry website in the United States. JT eventually left Jewelry Television to become Chief Operating Office at Textbooks.com and helped turn the website into the most comprehensive online resource for educational materials, both physical and digital. He holds a BS in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from Emory University.
Brett Patterson is the Executive Vice President of Cellular Sales. Brett graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1990. For over 20 years, Brett has focused on Sales and Sales Management. He has a wide range experience from Direct Sales to Sales Executive to Ownership positions. At ADP Payroll services, Brett became the youngest Regional Director in the company’s history, winning the President’s Club award from 1990-1994. After leaving ADP, Brett joined Ultimate Software as a sales executive when the company claimed annual revenues of less than $1 million, and helped grow the company to a market cap of $4.3 billion.
Brett owned and operated Business Link, a wireless retail company, which he sold in 2005. He is President of BL3 Ventures, a real estate holding company. Brett is also Director of the PB & JAM Foundation, a philanthropic fund supporting organizations including The University of Tennessee Scholarship Fund, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Compassion International, Goodwill Industries, local schools & churches, and more.
Pam is the Chief Financial Officer for Cellular Sales and is in charge of strategic management of all financial and accounting functions. She oversees the relationships with financial institutions and external auditors and administers the accounting information system, evaluating and designing internal controls to ensure compliance and data integrity. Prior to joining Cellular Sales, Pam was Vice President of Finance for Aeroflex USA, Inc., a Thailand-based joint-venture partnership. Pam played a direct role in the start-up company and managed all aspects of accounting, information technology and systems during her five-year tenure. Pam’s versatile career experience also includes banking, non-profit and manufacturing. Pam, a CPA, also holds a BBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Tennessee, and a MBA with a focus in Accounting from Lincoln Memorial University. As someone dedicated to professional growth and business networking, she sits on a committee for the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, promoting local businesses.
Reese K. Thomas is the General Counsel for Cellular Sales and is responsible for handling all of the company’s legal matters. Prior to joining Cellular Sales, Reese was the President of RKT LAW, PLLC. Reese previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of TIS Insurance Services, Inc., one of the nation’s Top 100 private insurance brokerage firms. Reese is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law where he received the Chancellor’s Citation for Academic Excellence and was admitted into the Order of the Coif honor society. Reese also holds a BS in Finance from the University of Tennessee, and he has taught Contract Drafting as an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law. In addition, Reese was an organizer and director of InsCorp, a Tennessee bank holding company, and was a member of the Southern 7 Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization.
